How Much Is My Back Injury Worth?

Different personal injury settlements are worth different amounts. There are many reasons for this.

There are infinitely many different ways a person can injure himself and they all have a different sort of impact on the life of the victim. There is no set value that a back injury settlement is worth, but one can predict higher or lower values when taking a few things into consideration:

The severity of the injury A back injury is a soft-tissue injury, and therefore, is more difficult to observe the effects of than that of a broken bone.

The characteristics of the injured party If the victim is young and attractive, a disfiguring injury is going to be worth more than it would be on someone older and/or homelier.

The age of the victim A permanent or long-time injury to a child is always going to net more than one sustained by an adult. Children are more vulnerable.

The type of job the victim does A manual laborer is more easily incapacitated from his work than someone with a more sedentary job, and therefore, his injury is going to be worth more.

How often a person claims he or she is injured If a person has a history of claiming an injury, especially a soft-tissue injury, the likelihood of a large settlement is going to be a lot less.

There are a lot of other factors that will influence your claim that are separate from you, some of which are:

** Your attorney's reputation If your attorney is well known by the insurance companies as very experienced and competent at proving cases like yours, then the insurance companies will be more apt to place a better offer

** Your doctor's reputation. If you choose a doctor that specializes only in patients filing personal injury cases, then it is very likely that your doctor will be notorious in the courts and you will be awarded less money as you will be suspected of fraud.

** The extent of property damage that was caused. If more damage was done to your automobile or other property in the accident, then your injury is more likely to be seen with credulity by the jury.

** The amount of time you are unable to work.

** How long you and your attorney are willing to wait until the maximum amount is offered.
